An Awesome Day At The Compy Faire

Okay, So I promised a debrief of this day to a friend, and so, here it is... Today was killer fun! Thanks to Kathy NIelson, of the Avenger, for a day traipsing around at the Computer Faire and for Dinner at Harold's and the sinful Cheesecake with blueberries that still resides at the casa Dickinson et Nielson.

I wanted to relate two special moments of the Computer Faire for ya here. The First is that we ran into Avenger's great friend Jaime at the Computer Faire today. He was, like us, putzing around the faire checking out the cool stuff we could nary afford. We enjoyed his charm and wit quite immensely before being called away by materials a-glowing once again.

The second moment, was when I was in a conversation with one of the vendors about needing a USB 4 Port Switch. It was a very cool conversation because at first he was trying to say that I needed a 4 port USB hub to plug in my Nostromo N50, My Webcam, My Palm Pilot, And Printer. This was great and would indeed be true, I told him, were I in the need or want of putting all those things on simulataneously. I however, need my cpu cycles. I told him that I needed to run these items through a switch to ease the pain that is reaching behind the pc and messing with the plugs there. That I only wanted a switch because I wanted to run only one device at a time, as that's all I had need or want for. And that I didn't want to pay alot for this muffler. When all was explained he exclaimed, "Y'know.. that's the first time I've ever heard of anyone needing a switch to run in that configuration.. its backwards to everything I've seen... its... exactly what you need a switch for... Let me get you one ;)". Well..what can I say? :)

Moving along... As anyone who has gone to Harold's knows, there's a significant amount of food you return home with. I returned with 3.65quarters of a Roast Beef Sandwich with Melted Cheddar Cheese and Bacon (and au jus sauce). I joked with Kathy that I'd have to steal a page from megatokyo and add a roastbeef-o-meter to indicate how much of the sandwich was remaining. If you scroll down to the bottom, you'll see a whim become reality. The less green the meter gets, the less sandwich remains ;) Remember, this is Harolds... big freaking sandwiches peoples ;)

Last but not least it was back to Casa Dickinson et Nielson for some movies and r & r... Cheesecake can take it out of you let me tell you ;) We rented Formula51 with Sam Jackson and the guy from Full Monty. It was AWESOME! And then we watched a stinker of a movie called Darkwolf. Its one quality that didn't quite redeem was a makeout/photo session between two of the actresses, all in wolf makeup. (Body paint yum)... This should not be missed for amusement and steam alone. Aside from that, the movie really should never have been greenlighted. I'd tell you more, but its not really worth it. Ah well, ya win some ya lose some.

And that was my day... after rescuing Palm Pilot from certain doom at work ;) But that's a story for another day ;)
