Christmas, F&%&%ING MACROVISION & Nvidia
Heya Kids! Chistmas coming on quick and
I had a lot in the works and that got all sidelined cause o this work
thing and a little bitch called Macrovision and Nvidia and the fact that
thanks to the scheme and Nvidia caving in to pressure from the macrovision
camp, I can't watch DVD's on my computer DVD player!
Two Words... Nakatomi Building
Okay, I've said it for years, but not having an actual copy of Die Hard
to watch right now is just un-christmaslike! I need to see Bruce Willis
running barefoot through the Nakatomi building, and I really must see
it tonight. So I'm scouring the file-sharing networks for a copy. Results
so far... not good.
DVD Woes
Apparently the deal is basically that because I have a graphics card capable
of outputting to TV, even though a tv isn't plugged in, the 40.13 (?)
Detonator Drivers of Nvidia's for my Gforce Fx5200 need macrovisions ok
to display a movie. No okay, no movie watching. I don't know why Nvidia
caved to this pressure, but if I want to clear up the problem, it seems
I have three choices.
ONE- Revert to a previous edition of the graphics driver
TWO- Use a third party non-slick viewer that doesn't macrovision
check
THREE- Use a software that rips out the crap and lets me watch
my movie
I've opted for option three, and its not working so far, so I may have
to go back to option One and suffer in Anarchy Online until Nvidia wises
up.
On Target
Ah the best laid plans of mice and men and I got the Merry Xmas opener
layed in and up a half hour early for the Holiday, YAY! Now all I gotta
do is get this done, and tommorrow I can kick back and get Judy's new
events list entered in and things will be bippity boo.
Missing In Action for Xmas
I feel a bit this way, yes, in regards to the holidays. I'm going to miss
the Christmas party at Kat-n-Steve's, which means that I'll be missing
seeing Mike Rupprecht, Amy/Miles, Alex, Kat-n-Steve (obviously), Liz and
Carlos, Heidi, Kiran, and a slew of other comer's by. Then I'm going to
miss going to Kathy's parents place for bacon waffles and good times...
(low drawn out breath here)... but I'll be there in spirit. Of that you
can betcha.
In the real world I'll be in a Yoga position playing Anarchy-Online until
anything from the outside world rouses me for a viewing of Return of the
King, and still desperately be trying to locate a digital copy of Die
Hard for Christmas viewing (aforementioned). At least I'm over my mini-cold.
Susceptability
Since starting on HRT I've found, through various sources, that the first
few months, one is more susceptible to illness. And this, I can vouch
for, is true. Count em TWO colds that I felt like I was gonna die from...
this second time wasn't as prolonged, but I caught it way early and still
felt like hell for two days.
Work!
Been working three days now at a non-descript printing company that produces
want ad books for Farm Equipment. Yep, there's alot of stuff out there
for sale and a great company to work with to help their customers do it.
I'm really enjoying the new job, and hoping it goes from temp to perm.
And did I mention pizza from Papa John's today ??? Soooo cool :) I just
seem to have a nack of getting into companies right near a retirement
or holiday season party :)
And that's it from this time around. Nothing hugely rousing or flabbergasting.
But some of you will be getting calls from me on the morrow, you just
wait and see. And I already got to talk to Chris Horrocks from the Thagard...
W00t ;) Okay, time to go.... Merry Xmas and Happy Hooligan-Days ;)
