Away Missions: Weddings, Bachelor & Lan Parties
Greetings Everyone!
Well things are gearing up for a quick trip to Jersey and man are they
jammed packed with fun! First, I'll be getting ringside seats to the Wedding
of Stephan Dickinson and Kathlina Nielson, and then its off to a bachelor
party for another series of marrieds-to-be, Ricky Bruckman and Joan Pierce!
Okay well Joan's gonna be having a bridal shower on the same day and I'm
not going to be able to get to both, so I'm sticking with Ricky... because
well Todd's plans are sure to be fantabulous... and I was invited ;)
Lessee, well there's not really too much to tell at this point... okay,
there's alot to tell, but quite frankly, I'm too plumb tuckered out to
go into it all in one sitting... so if this article seems like it was
written in segments that don't quite dovetail, well, now ya know why ;)
Hoop Jumping In The Realm Of Medicine
Well as some of you may be aware, I'm currently back in therapy. Its one
of the pre-requisites for getting legal hormone therapy (HRT) in the U.S.
. What is patently annoying however is that the doctors won't even talk
to me or get some bloodwork done on me until my therapist is comfortable
giving them the ok. This is not my therapist's fault. This is the Endocrinologists
policy... and it blows rabbit chunks. My therapist would be more than
happy to sign off on a "Please check her over and see if there are
any problems with the liver due to HRT"-Letter, but they're not having
it. So yay, yet more delays till I can get proper physical healthcare.
Until then, I keep going to therapy, do the getting to know you stuff;
open boxes best left closed and basically pour my soul out to a nice,
but relative stranger.
See, the best way I can describe this stage of the process, is like trying
to convince a doctor of your general need for food and water, and they
want an outside opinion before they feed you. Its unnerving, frustrating
and annoying, but I guess everyone's got an ass to cover.
On the upside though, I like my therapist and she seems a million times
better than the reps I saw at Hunterdon Behavioural Health center.
Fast Moving Zombies versus Slow Moving Zombies
- The Debate
While on a recent movie night for the Hathor, Resident Evil 2 / Shaun
Of The Dead Double Feature, the crew of the Hathor and various people
we're working to sign on, embarked on a rather interesting conversation
following both films. Which type of zombie are you prepared to deal with?
Fast or Slow Moving?
Fast moving zombie creatures ala Resident Evil are not exactly preferable,
but they keep life interesting whilest you're trying to get away with
yours intact. They provide impetus to keep moving and they solve problems
with your enemies if you just point em in the right direction with a proper
lure... say your manager.
Slow movng zombies are easier to deal with, BUT they block up traffic,
make it impossible to get anywhere, and are less worn out when they start
gnawing on you when you're sleeping off your last round of Zombie skullbash.
Which means it hurts more when they bite, scratch, and eat you... all
in all, the choice is...
Do you wanna die quick or do you wanna suffer and maybe survive? Ah the
eternal varities ;)
Hathor H.Q., The Computer Cores And Ranging
Signals
It rode a blazing signal,
It wore a di-pole antenna,
Its job to offer service,
To Mad Men Near and Far....
In the last month I've built an Athlon 3200 XP+ computer for Hathor's
Ship's Counselor and her beau. I've repaired our Chief of Security's Athlon
2500 XP+ machine and I've been trying to find ways of extending the range
of Hathor H.Q.'s Wi-Fi network to both get signal out to our Counselor
and to make the pipe big enough to support lan gaming at a moment's notice.
Let me tell ya, its maddening not being able to get the signal out to
them. My next step is getting a wirless bridge to install somewhere to
finish the final link, IF I can't get a spare router (gift of a prior
roomie) to act as a repeater and its and uphill battle there. But hey,
if it was easy, I'd be out of a job ;) Man, ever since I took command
of the Hathor, I've spent more time in Computer Control and Engineering.
How's that for irony ;)
Ah well, will all be worth it once the IT Infrastructure is complete.
(And I build the roomie's new computer, finish the server and maybe build
a new machine for Tony if we get round to it before Christmas). ;)
Curves In The Right Places
Last but not least, I am happy to report that curves are definitely curving
round where they need to be. Skin is thinning a bit, touch sensitivity
is up, brain-function is at true multi-task mode, emotional roller coaster
is in check, and I am single. Anyone wanting further details can debrief
me in person... but I get to choose the equipment ;)
